Really Good Ideas (RGIs)

On the Side Thanks!

Sauces and gravies have millions of calories in them. If you want to trim off some weight, then from now on, always order these things ‘on the side.’  Some chefs tend to prepare a culinary masterpiece then ruin it with way too much of the add-ons. If you ask for extras ‘on the side’ you will need about 1/8 of the sauce for exactly the same taste and you’ll be a lot better off in the calories department. Trust me.

Cheap and Fit

What’s the cheapest piece of exercise equipment?  A skipping rope.
Start with 3 skips a day in the first week. It’s nothing. Go on, do it. Next week, do 6 skips a day, the next week 9 skips a day. In ten weeks you’ll be doing 30 skips a day. You don’t need to do them all in one go. If you are unsure about adding more, check with your doctor. Which reminds me of a line from my favourite comedian'"what’s the definition of an alcoholic?  Somebody who drinks more than their doctor."

Fruity Facts

Fruit juice is nutritious but has lots of calories. How many oranges do you need to squeeze to end up with a glass of orange juice?  Four?  Six?  If you need to trim off a few kilos or pounds - no juice - eat the fruit instead.
