BEAN THERE, DONE THAT
|
Is there a recession buster out there? Yes, for sure. The least expensive good food on the planet is also the healthiest - It’s the poor man’s meat...beans!
And whilst studies show that western people in a sour economy go for the cheaper, fatty foods, there is one shining light glowing through the gloom.
Baked bean sales worldwide have surged 12% in the last year! Throughout the last century, beans have sustained people through many a period of adversity, particularly of the financial kind. Beans are an affordable, in fact very cheap, source of protein, fibre and energy. Australians ate 116 million cans of these nutrition bombshells over the 12 month period.
It is no surprise that the saying “Full of Beans“ means full of energy.

| GRANDPARENTS
|
They brought your parents into the world – you wouldn’t be here without them. They love you. Grandparents can become lonely. Visit them, be kind to them and remember that your children have grandparents too. Too busy? You’ll most likely be a grandparent one day.

| TAKE THE TEST
|
Are you happy? In the Body and Soul insert in Sunday’s newspaper (3rd May) there will be an 8 page liftout with Dr John Tickell’s “Health and Happiness Test”.
This is a soul searching look at the things we do (and don’t do) from day to day - so slow down, take a look in the mirror and reflect on the things that can really make a difference. I invite you to ‘do the test’.

| AMERICAN IDEA
|
Let's eat our meals in front of the TV! This is a really bad idea that we have picked up from the leader of the 'Western World' It is the time of day (dinner time) when we used to sit around the dinner table as a family and did some bonding and held discussions with our family members. If you don't have a family meal like this at least 4 times a week, you are letting yourselves down badly.
